Distributing companies

Within the film industry there are 6 major distributors which combined make up to 81% of the film market. Having looked at what films have inspired me and influenced my product I thought it would be best to research into the companies that distributed them, so that I can have an understanding on how they distributed their product in order for them to be successful. The company that tops them all is 20th Century Fox.

Taken 2 was distributed by the 20th Century Fox and is evidence to prove that the company is very successful when distributing their films as the film was a success.

On the other hand you have white house down that was distributed by Columbia Pictures which is also categorised in the big 6 and were successful having made $25 million on the opening weekend of the film being in cinema.

Overall, purely based on the big 6, if I had to chose one as my distributing company inspiration is would be the Twentieth Century Fox. This would be due to their huge success with majority of their films, especially with their film genre of thriller, which is what my film genre is as well.
